Unfortunately, I am currently unable to accept new patients.
We opened our doors in 2013 with a passion for filling the gap in mental health care in our community with high-quality and effective care. In 2013 I co-founded WHW with the vision of creating access to care for others in our community in need.
My philosophy for care is grounded in the science of nursing, holistic and collaborative treatment that assesses and addresses all aspects of an individual's needs. I take into consideration biological, psychological, and social/environmental issues, and I always involve patients (and parents/guardians when appropriate) in a collaborative process of decision-making. Since 2009, I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults in outpatient settings. I have also worked with youth in both a community mental health clinic and an inpatient hospital setting.
I have been involved in mental health and the healthcare field since 1997. After receiving my bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Santa Cruz, I worked in health promotion and prevention research for 12 years, and from this experience, I now bring to my therapeutic work a strong commitment to relapse prevention. I want my clients/patients to get better and stay better. At OHSU, I continued my education, becoming a Registered Nurse and then a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. In 2016 I completed a doctoral degree in Nursing in the University of Colorado, Denver. For 6 years, I held a position as Instructor then Assistant Professor at OHSU, educating students to become Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners.
I am nationally board certified as a Family Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, accredited to treat individuals across the lifespan. I am licensed as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in Oregon to provide both therapeutic treatment and prescription medications.
We are honored that Nicole received the OHSU School of Nursing Alumna of the Year Award in 2020 and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners Award for Excellence for Nurse Practitioners for the State of Oregon, in 2018.
