I have always been drawn to working with children and their families. My approach to working with families is to help establish (or repair) the parent/child relationship by building a consistent and predictable pattern of communication. The focus of treatment is to help teach both the parent and child to learn new ways of resolving conflicts using the Think Kids Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) model. Parents and children will learn how to share their concerns with each other more effectively and think through solutions that work for both the child and parent. Beth also runs CPS Parent Classes. Children who struggle with anxiety, depression, and/or ADHD along with children who may have a hard time being flexible and adaptable, managing their emotions, have a hard time thinking outside the box, and problem-solving new ways of doing things could benefit from this intervention. This is a time-limited intervention (8-12 sessions) and can be a great adjunct for families who may already have an established therapist working with their child individually.
