Nicole Bennett, DNP, MN, BA
Nationally Board Certified Family Psychiatric - Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
My philosophy is grounded in the science of nursing. I provide holistic treatment planning addressing all aspects of an individual considering their biological, psychological and social/environmental needs. Mental health treatment is a process that requires knowledge and collaboration. I firmly believe in involving patients and parents/guardians in decision making about their care. Before pursuing nursing I worked in health promotion and prevention research. From this experience I bring a focus on relapse prevention to reduce the risk of future mental health problems.
I have been involved in mental health and the healthcare field since 1997. I received my bachelor’s degree from the Univ. of California at Santa Cruz. I worked in healthcare research for 12 years prior to returning to school at Oregon Health & Science University where I received my training to become a Registered Nurse and then a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Since 2009, I have worked with children, adolescents and adults in a private practice setting and with youth in a community mental clinic. I also have experience working with youth in an in-patient hospital setting and currently teach in the nurse practitioner program at OHSU.
I am nationally board certified as a Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, accredited to treat clients across the lifespan. In addition to other therapy modalities I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral approaches and Collaborative Problem Solving. I am licensed as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in Oregon and as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner in Washington.
I primarily work with children, adolescents and young adults. I provide psychiatric evaluations and medication management with limited space for therapy.
