I have practiced in the field of mental health since 1995, the first ten years as a licensed psychotherapist and as a licensed psychiatric nurse practitioner since 2007. Throughout my career I have found partnership to be an especially important factor in assisting those to whom I provide services for personal growth, healing and recovery.  You are the person who knows you best and will ultimately be the one responsible for change in your life. Thus, your understanding and experience of your life is of great importance and shapes how we collaborate. I view our work together as a partnership. I bring my experience and expertise in the field of mental health and you bring your knowledge of yourself and the efforts you have and will make in the process of change. I request and expect ongoing feedback from you regarding our process.  Partnership for your health and wellness also extends to the community that supports you. This may include therapists, healthcare providers, family and others. To the extent to which you would like collaboration, I will coordinate care for the purpose of maximizing all your resources toward recovery and growth.

As a psychiatric nurse practitioner I am able to prescribe psychiatric medications. Many people seeking my services are doing so to assess the need for these medications which aid in management of symptoms. I have found that medication can be a very useful tool in managing symptoms which allows for the healing and growth needed to maximize life enjoyment and potential. That being said, I believe medication plays a relatively small part in the healing and growth process and that other factors, such as therapy, creating community, and healthy life style choices, such as good nutrition and exercise, are vitally important. My work with you will emphasize finding this balance in your life.

I received my first master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from East Carolina University in 1995. In 2007 I received a second master’s degree in psychiatric nursing from Oregon Health and Science University. I am licensed as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner by the State of Oregon and am board-certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. I have received post-graduate training in multiple modalities including, but not limited to, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Transactional Analysis/Redecision Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Additionally I have experience in recovery support for people with a history of addiction. I welcome people from a variety of backgrounds including those who identify with the LGBTQ+ community. I work only with adults at this time.

I provide psychiatric evaluations and medication management with limited availability to provided psychotherapy.

I am not currently accepting new patients.
